The Academic Mobility team has a list of opportunities for students interested in doing internships or research. There are opportunities in more than 40 laboratories and research groups. Internships are available at TECNOPUC too.

Academic Mobility students at PUCRS had the chance to visit a typical Centro de Tradições Gaúchas during the Semana Farroupilha , a week dedicated to local traditions in all cities of Rio Grande do Sul. The program included typical dances and cultural activities.

PUCRS students do internship in German universities

Four School of Technology students are doing the UAS7 Internship Program in laboratories of the German Universities of Applied Sciences, a strategic alliance of seven leading German institutions of teaching and research.

RESEARCH

Agreement with University of Milan targets cooperation in research

The new agreement with University of Milan materializes the existing partnership between the two institutions. Ongoing projects include MicroRNAs in frailty-associated cognitive impairment (MATCH-In), which features PUCRS as the only non-European university involved in the project.

Neurologist Douglas Sato joins International Society of Neuroimmunology

The Superintendent for Teaching, Research, Development and Innovation of the Brain Institute of RS (BraIns), Douglas Sato MD, is now a member of the International Society of Neuroimmunology (ISNI). He is among the 12 new board members who have been selected by a group of more than 200 voters.

EDUCATION

PUCRS professor teaches health care professionals in Africa

School of Health Sciences professor Dr Ana Elizabeth Figueiredo, delivered a training program for doctors and nurses from Sudan (Africa). The course on dialysis featured theory and practicum work at Soba University Hospital and at Dr Salma Renal Center.

Graduate Program in Psychology known for international activities

The Graduate Program in Psychology has more than 70 partnerships with international programs, in 18 countries. Out of the 110 articles published in 2017, 64% were published in international journals – a number that is way above the average for this area in Brazil.

Conexões Internacionais

The first edition of Conexões Internacionais brought together professors, researchers and students to discuss international cooperation in research. The importance of inter-institutional connections to excellence was addressed in lectures, talks and panel sessions.

SUMMER COURSES

School of Medicine to offer four Summer Courses for international students

Registrations for the School of Medicine's new Summer Courses for international students (undergraduate level) are now open . The three-week program will give them a chance to have practicum work in four distinct areas – Surgery, Urology, Obstetrics and Clinical Neurology –, at São Lucas Hospital at PUCRS.

RECOGNITION

THE 2019: PUCRS is #1 private university in south of Brazil

PUCRS has been elected the best private educational institution of the south of Brazil as per the Times Higher Education (THE) 2019. This year, PUCRS ranks second among all higher education institutions of the country in the categories Industry Income and the top private institution of Brazil in the category Citations.

PUCRS awarded Capes PrInt grant for internationalization

PUCRS has been awarded with a federal government grant known as Programa Institucional de Internacionalização (Institutional Program of Internationalization) - Capes/PrInt. Capes intends to advance the development of international research networks, expand the actions of internationalization in graduate programs and consequently, enhance the quality of academic production.
